Dedication to Nancy Sobey
In January 2008, our committee lost a member, fellow barrel racer and friend, Nancy Sobey, following a long battle with cancer. It was only natural to dedicate this barrel racing event to her memory, as one of our futurity founders, and inspirations behind starting this Barrel Race for the Cure.

How it works...
This barrel race is dedicated to raising funds towards finding a cure for breast cancer. 100% of all the entry fees (in the form of pledges) are donated to Cancer Care Manitoba. A minimum of $50 donation is requested per horse entered.

Competitors will run for a donated purse amount, to be split between the four divisions. MBRA sanctioned race.

The Northern Lights Barrel Futurity & Derby committee couldn't be more thrilled with the participation of barrel racers who have competed in our Annual Barrel Race for the Cure, held on the Friday evening preceeding our futurity and derby event. Thank you also to A-Channel in Winnipeg for bringing us onto the Breakfast Show - how exciting, and to Pine Ridge for donating the use of the arena on Friday for this special and very successful barrel race.
